Science VideosThis is a page to review science videos. I have been finding some very good ones on the Internet lately. Richard Feynman -- The Pleasure of Finding Things OutRichard Feynman has been called the world's greating physics lecturer. This BBC interview is full of facinating insights from an even more fascinating person. During my PP class, I played the part where he describes how he decided to start doing math and physics just for the fun of it again, and how that led to his Nobel prize. Richard Feynman -- Douglas Robb Memorial Lectures on Quantum ElectrodynamicsVery understandable and entertaining lectures on quantum electrodynamics. The first lecture is even less technical and is at least half "preparing your mind." Highly recommended. Physics for Future PresidentsLectures from a course at UC Berkeley, presenting aspects of physics which are especially relevant to life today. Why haven't we run out of gasoline, as predicted? Is nuclear power better than solar power? Is hydrogen a better fuel than gasoline? There are also some essay questions and other material in the textbook chapters. The Mechanical Universe ... and BeyondThis is complete college level (or high school AP level) physics course. I saw this series when it was shown on PBS years ago. The animated math equations won an award. http://freescienceonline.blogspot.com/A good place to find more science videos. The Elegant UniverseAll fluff. I was not very impressed. http://lifehacker.com/software/education/technophilia-get-a-free-college-education-online-201979.phpAnother listing of online classes and educational resources. Nova OnlinePBS has put quite of few of the shows from the NOVA series online, including "The Elegant Universe". Khan AcademyLots of instructional math videos, and some science too. The Dot and the Line: A Romance in Lower MathematicsAnimated short based on the book of the same name. See also |
